PHOTO OF THE DAY - Boys Will Be Boys

This picture makes me laugh every time I look at it. It's amazing what you will find on the beach and what boys will do with it as well!

PHOTO OF THE DAY - Caleb

So I realized that I have been so focused on taking good pictures that I forgot about all the skills I developed taking digital imaging and photoshop classes! DUH!! So today I took some shots and played around with some different photoshop techniques to see what I could come up with. I think this will add a nice touch to Senior Grad Pictures or even if people wanted to use me instead of paying those outrageous prices for school pictures ;) You have to admit that they have gotten way out of control on pricing over the years and they all still look exactly the same! No creativity at all and you are committed to getting just one pose of your child.

Thursday, July 16, 2009

Today was the "Shock" BMX competition at the Rockland Skate Park and what a show it was! All ages and all levels of talent. Thank you to some of the guys who stuck around afterward so I could get some awesome shots. Thank you also to the young ladies and gents who risked all to "be jumped over" so that I could get even more awesome shots! I will post a slideshow of the best shots on my website in the next day or so. In the meantime here are a few of my favorite shots as a teaser. The first shot I was actually laying down on the fly box while Cameron jumped over me. I trust Cameron but my heart was still pounding! Enjoi! ;)

PHOTO OF THE DAY - AS BRIGHT AS THE SUN!

So due to the horrid rain and my horrid sinus headaches that have been plaguing me lately I haven't been much for posting my photo of the day. Today the sun is out! FINALLY! Headaches seem to have passed for the moment and this beautiful flower in my garden has been calling out to me to photograph it for days now! ;) I have discovered that I absolutely LOVE depth of field and "playing with it." On a business note...I have quite a few possibilities lined up in the future but I just don't feel like I am busy enough work wise at present moment. Maybe I am being impatient...or maybe there is a reason for the break? Calm before the storm possibly? In the mean time...I am completely absorbing myself in everything photography. I have watched so many tutorials online that my eyes hurt. I have bought every photography magazine in the Knox County area AND I have read and absorbed all the information in them all. I feel SO ready to "get out there" and I am confident in what I have learned through school and on my own.

PHOTO OF THE DAY - LIGHT IN DARKNESS

We took the kiddos to the fireworks tonight and what a wonderful night it was for them too! I got some cool shots of the kids playing with sparklers and shot... I kid you not...hundreds of shots of the fireworks. Was definitely worth carrying my tripod around with me beforehand ;) My favorites out of them all were the ones of the kids playing with the sparklers. So that's what I am posting tonight. Sleep well all...sleep well.

PHOTO(S) OF THE DAY - HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

So the rain held off long enough for the parade today thankfully and I was able to get the best parade shots I have ever gotten before. We had a great spot having arrived at the parade almost an hour before it started and I definitely had my "photo taking mojo " on today! So much so that I just couldn't choose which one picture to post today...so you're getting a few!

PHOTO OF THE DAY - "Just Hangin' Around"

So today was another dreary day (surprise surprise) and Matthew and I decided to stop by the Rockland Harbor as he likes to climb on the huge buoys. Since it wasn't raining I took some quick shots of him and his dramatic expressions.
